For our base package, we can accomplish the preparation in a couple of sessions and 2 full days of filming. if you are wanting us to do the full extended memoir version, it would take between 1 - 2 months of intermittent interview sessions, depending on availability. Post-production will take between 2-4 weeks for the portrait version and between 2-6 months for the extended version. Timing is also largely dependent on your collaboration and availability.

We are aware that it may seem overwhelming initially. Our job is to make the process as smooth as possible and accomplishable in bite-size pieces. We’re going to take it step by step and hold your hand from start to finish. Also keep in mind that all that is asked of you is:

• Preparation work: remembering the important parts of your life, maybe clarify some stories with some relatives, get on a call or 2 with us. This is done at your leisure but will largely determine the outcome of the final film. That is why we want to help you during that process as well.

• 2 days of shooting: all you’ll be asked is to sit down and have a conversation. It may be a little intense but we’ll be there along the way to make sure you feel comfortable and heard. Respecting your rhythm and also insuring we follow the plan we agreed upon during the preparation sessions.

Once we have everything we will come back to you with the final film on which you will have full editing control and choice. Two revision cycles are included. A revision cycle consists of: our edit - your modifications - the revised edit. Any modification after the revised edit is delivered will start another revision cycle.

Our process will start with a solid contract that protects you. You will have total editorial control. We give you all the assets at the end of the project and keep nothing. If you want further edits after the final delivery, there will be another contract and you will give us back the files.

We keep everything local, secure and private. Only the specific people on our team who need and you will have access to your files unless you give specific written authorization to someone. We return your originals when we finish, and when we delete our working copies, we delete them securely. We use careful safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot control systems or people outside our company. At the end of the project, all of the files will be given to you,we keep only our proprietary project templates, tools and methods we use with all of our clients.

Part of the process in creating your memoir/portrait is to give you questions and tools to trigger memories prior and during the interview. This includes pre-interview sessions (call/zoom/in-person) and developing a set of questions that are tailored to you and the story you want to tell in your memoir. We will take the necessary time prior to the shoot to make sure you are ready and that we are aligned on how the interview is going to be conducted with the story you want to tell. We also encourage you to talk to your relatives to make sure you remember things correctly. Family members are also welcome to join the pre-interview sessions.

Our job is to make it so that you will forget the cameras. Think of it as a casual conversation with the interviewer. You will not be asked to perform, this is not what it’s about. We are creating a heartfelt gift for your family; this is what it’s about. Part of our mission is to provide that safe space for you to share who you are.

We have a studio space in which we can recreate a familiar environment, bringing important elements from your home.

This is part of the expertise we provide. Between make-up, angles, lighting, lenses, color grading and post-production, we have tricks up our sleeves to make you look as good as possible on camera. That is part of our work and intent.

You only have to share what you want to share, you will only be asked to share what you have in your heart as that is what is most impactful. And this is YOUR film; you have full editorial power in any case. And you have control as to when and how your film is released.

Keep in mind that this film is a gift to the future. You’re not doing that for your immediate family that already knows you, you are doing this for your future generations that won’t get to know you in person.
